A brief is a starting pressure, not a specification whose successful illustration ends the inquiry.
Read the brief and the set.
The first reading asks which words are pulling toward familiar imagery. Source images are compared as a set: repeated poses, symbolic props, lighting and composition expose defaults that one image can hide.
Draw alternatives with a question.
Local studies test placement, scale, negative space and relationships. They need enough construction to be judged. Repeating a weak diagram twenty times does not establish breadth. Source-guided redraws are identified as such, rather than claimed as invented anatomy.
Choose the instrument for the problem.
Native drawing supplies deliberate deposits, lifting, local revision and recorded marks. Generators can propose or reconstruct a richer image. Structural tools can help with connected geometry. A handoff names what should survive and what may change. The actual return—not the requested change—is judged.
Critique changes the direction.
VTL’s Delta develops and transforms a proposition. Omega can refuse its premise. Hold preserves a tension for observation. These are artistic routes, not scores. A failed return can send the work sideways, back to a source, or into another instrument.
The artist can work between reviews. Critique need not interrupt every mark, and the number of sittings does not certify completion.
Challenge what appears to work.
Try an alternative that could defeat the selected direction. Inspect what actually changed and acknowledge confounds. A provisional Hold explains what is specific, what remains unresolved, why further intervention may weaken it, and what would reopen the work.
What is implemented?
There are working native renderers, recorded local edits, structural experiments and executed cross-tool studies. The recent studies are directed and critiqued by the same assistant with Russell’s steering. This is not an independent critic panel, an autonomous artist or a fully automatic tool router. Integrity checks establish file and decision consistency; they do not certify artistic quality.
