# RGI-light (round 2): results

Protocol: `protocol.json` (frozen, read-only). Measures and quoted statements: `results.json`. Finals beside S21's
block-in: `finals.jpg`. Three runs: this describes three paintings; it does not establish an effect.

## Measured against the pre-registered rule

| run | final | light dx (relocated > 0.25) | glow | snow | lit brook | geometry |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RL-1 | clean:1 | 0.626 | no | 0.872 | no | 0.710 |
| RL-2 | shadows:1 | 0.254 | no | 0.852 | no | 0.711 |
| RL-3 | dark:3 | 0.312 | yes | 0.762 | no | 0.728 |

Reference: SR1 and SR2 finals had 1 of 12 above 0.25; round 1's late runs 1 of 2.

## The stated idea (for Russell to judge: did it change?)

| run | first question (sitting 1, before RGI) | hold paragraph (after RGI), opening |
|---|---|---|
| RL-1 | "one low left light makes near shadowed snow, the small lit figure on the ice and the pale ruin against dark weather one consequential line of travel" | "The light comes from behind the viewer: a low sun a little to the left, outside the picture, at our backs. Its source is never seen. There is no glow at the horizon" |
| RL-2 | "the single path of light through a dusk snowfield ... (cool above, warm glow low behind the ruin)" | "The light is not a sun behind the ruin: it comes low from behind the viewer's left shoulder. It falls on the snow and on the ruin's face, so the choir stands pale against the darkest part of the sky." |
| RL-3 | "brightening as it nears the ruin where it mirrors the low glow, so that the ruin is the one darkest shape against the brightest light" | "RL-3 refuses the low sun behind the ruin. The light comes low from behind the viewer ... the ruin ... stands pale, almost ghostly, against a heavy dark slate sky" |

RL-1 did not conceive the default: its first question already set a low light from the left with the ruin pale against
dark weather. RL-2 and RL-3 conceived the sun behind the ruin and abandoned it after the activation.

## Verdict under the rule

Light relocated in 3 of 3 (RL-2 by 0.004 over the line). If Russell judges the idea changed in RL-2 and RL-3, the rule's
"at least 2 of 3" is met by the two runs that conceived the default: **MOVED**. RL-1 meets the measure but did not need
moving.

**Recorded verdict (2026-10-12): MOVED.** Russell, in chat, after reading the quoted statements: "you can proceed."
He did not rule run by run; the verdict rests on his acceptance of the reading above.

## What the paintings show

- All three inverted the light the same way: a low sun behind the viewer, outside the picture; a dark storm sky; the ruin
lit pale against it; the brook dark, mirroring the sky. RL-2 and RL-3 both kept a shadow from "the refused sun"
running toward the walker, as a stated contradiction.
- None moved the geometry (0.71 to 0.73, inside the series range): the brook keeps S21's lateral S, and walker, ruin and
horizon stay in place. Round 1, with no target named, moved the geometry and not (reliably) the light.
- The same counter-light was reached in the wall (S30, "the ruin by its own light against a darker band") and in P2.
